As a respected journalist at The Straits Times, Derwin held prominent positions as Bureau Chief in both Indonesia and the United States. He has interviewed an array of influential global figures, including all Indonesian presidents since the fall of Suharto, former US President George W. Bush, and former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. These experiences allowed him to cultivate intimate contacts within the political and corporate corridors of power in Indonesia and beyond.
